Great customer service. Guys took my car at very short notice as I had no brake lights. Got me back on the road quickly.
Excellent service. Booked evening before, fitted in the morning. On time, friendly service.
Ok, i'm not one for writing reviews normally, i normally think if i'm paying for something why should i be happy when i get what i paid for ?,... however in this case i was very impressed. I discovered today (Monday) while out doing my weekly shop i had a flat-ish tyre and on further inspection i could see a foreign metallic object in my not that old tyre, so i called the usual big chains ,.. Kwik-Fit and ATS and was greeted with the usual "Why are you bothering us" attitude, i described the issue and they simply said it needs a new tyre that will be £175+VAT and i'd have to wait until Thursday,..and i nearly went for it. I then noticed in the Google search a local garage (SMS Alloa), so on the off chance i gave them a call,.. i was greeted by a lovely lady, (didn't get her name)..although it appears unfortunately i had interrupted her lunch,.. i took this as a good sign as this says to me they care for their business and customers, when other big chain garages would simply let it ring or let it go to answer phone or even cut you off. I explained the issue and she said they are a bit busy but pop-over and they would take a look, so i did. I waited 7 mins in the store adequately socially distanced, while others were served and then i was ushered to the garage and the tyre was inspected by one of the friendly mechanics and he explained it was borderline for a repair however it wasn't a full nail and it could indeed be repaired safely,.. which he did quickly and efficiently,... the final bill.. £17.50 !!,.. a lot better than the £175+VAT So, enough waffle, ..bottom-line i was very impressed .. the service by all the staff i encountered was excellent both on the phone and in person,... they could have easily pushed me down the path of saying i needed a new tyre but didn't and i was all sorted and back home within an hour of making the initial call,... needless to say they will be my first port of call when i want anything needing done to my car in future.
Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff, really good experience.
I took my car here for an MOT and what a terrible mistake that was. Firstly, this garage did not carry out the MOT. It appears it was carried out by Mayfield Auto. I was not informed about this when booking, but my issue was not with the result of the MOT. My car failed due to a handbrake fault, misbalanced brakes along the rear axle and corroded brake pipes - these are all things that I could accept. I was told that I'd also need 2 new rear callipers despite me informing them that they were not even a year old and had done less than 6k miles! I was quoted £747.85 all in for the MOT, repairs and 2 puncture repairs and due to needing to wait on parts it would take another day. However, if I wanted the work carried out that day I would be "closer to £1000". When asked to give a breakdown of the price when I came into the store the woman I was dealing with appeared evasive (which my partner had also noticed). The only information I was provided with was that its "a lot of work" and it would take "7 hours of labour at £55 per hour". I think anyone who has a working knowledge of cars would raise an eyebrow at this quote given how localised all the faults were. I, of course, refused to pay for the repairs (but did pay the MOT and puncture repairs). I then phoned another local garage (L&L Auto Care) which was literally around the corner from here and I explained the situation and they agreed to take a look. I was charged £280 for ALL of the work to be carried out and drove away not even 2 days later with a passed MOT. That's £105 less than what SMS Alloa were trying to charge me for labour alone! Not only that, they confirmed my rear callipers were both perfectly fine. So how can SMS Alloa have gotten this so wrong? Fluctuations in bills can happen but not in excess of £400! All I can suggest is to avoid here at all costs if you're looking for an honest garage. I know I won't be making this mistake again.
